WARNING SIGN/TRAFFIC SIGN

(Standard signs accepted by Department of Highway, Ministry of Transport)


Warning signs can be classified in 3 different classes :

  1. Warning sign which displays symbol

  2. Warning sign which displays message and/or symbol

  3. Construction warning sign

2-1 Warning sign “Left Curve” – The way ahead is curve to the left. Drivers should slow down the vehicle, and drive on the left of the road with caution. 2-2 Warning sign “Right Curve” – The way ahead is curve to the right. Drivers should slow down the vehicle, and drive on the left of the road with caution. 2-3 Warning sign “Left Turn” – The way ahead is a sharp left turn. Drivers should slow down the vehicle, and drive on the left of the road with caution. 2-4 Warning sign “Right Turn” – The way ahead is a sharp right turn. Drivers should slow down the vehicle, and drive on the left of the road with caution. 2-5 Warning sign “Left Reverse Curves” – The way ahead curves to the left, and then curves back to the right. Drivers should slow down the vehicle, and drive on the left of the road with caution. 2-6 Warning sign “Right Reverse Curves” – The way ahead curves to the right, and then curves back to the left. Drivers should slow down the vehicle, and drive on the left of the road with caution. 2-7 Warning sign “Left Reverse Turns” – The way ahead curves sharply to the left, and then curves back to the right. Drivers should slow down the vehicle, and drive on the left of the road with caution.

Drivers should slow down the vehicle and drive carefully. 2-14 Warning sign “Y-Symbol Intersection” – Two main ways connect to eachter and form a Y shape intersection ahead. Drivers should slow down the vehicle and drive carefully. 2-15 Warning sign “Crossroad” – A secondary way crosses a main way and form an intersection. Drivers should slow down the vehicle and drive carefully.

2-16 Warning sign “90 Degree Side Road Left” – A secondary way branches off the main way on the left ahead. Drivers should slow down the vehicle and drive carefully. 2-17 Warning sign “90 Degree Side Road Right” – A secondary way branches off the main way on the right ahead. Drivers should slow down the vehicle and drive carefully. 2-18 Warning sign “Angle Side Road Left” – A secondary way merges with the main way from the left. Drivers are advised to drive cautiously. 2-19 Warning sign “Angle Side Road Left” 2-20 Warning sign “Angle Side Road Right” 2-21 Warning sign “Angle Side Road Right” – A secondary way merges with the main way from the right. Drivers are advised to drive cautiously. 2-22 Warning sign “T junction Left & Right” – A secondary branches off the main way on the left, following by another secondary way branches off on the right. Drivers are advised to drive cautiously.

2-23 Warning sign “T junction Right & Left” – A secondary branches off the main way on the right, following by another secondary way branches off on the left. Drivers are advised to drive cautiously. 2-24 Warning sign “Stop Ahead” – Stop sign coming up ahead, drivers of vehicles should get ready to stop their vehicles at the regulatory sign ahead. 2-25 Warning sign “Traffic Light Ahead” – Traffic light coming up ahead, drivers of vehicles are required to slow down the vehicle to prepare to follow the traffic light. 2-26 Warning sign “Open Railroad Crossing” – The way ahead is crossed by a railroad without a railway crossing barrier. Drivers of vehicles are advised to slow down the vehicles and observe both right and left carefully before crossing the railway. If a train is approaching, drivers must stop the vehicle at least 5 meters away from the railroad; wait for the train to pass before proceeding. Crosscut the train in a close distance is strictly prohibited. 2-26/1 Warning sign “Secure Railroad Crossing” – Railroad crossing the way ahead with crossing barrier, drivers of vehicles are advised to drive slowly pass this sign and prepare to stop the vehicle, when the officer give signals or closes the barrier. If there are other vehicles ahead, drivers must wait their turn and proceed when the barrier is removed. 2-27 Warning sign “Right Narrow Lane” – The right lane of the way ahead is narrowed down. Drivers of vehicles are required to drive more carefully and slowly. 2-27/1 Warning sign “Left Narrow Lane” – The left lane of the way ahead is narrowed down. Drivers of vehicles are required to drive more carefully and slowly.

2-28 Warning sign “Narrow Lanes” – The way head is narrowed down on both sides. Drivers of vehicles are required to drive more carefully and slowly, as well as trying to not to cause any accident. 2-29 Warning sign “Approaching Narrow Bridge” – Drivers of vehicles is approaching a narrow bridge, in which the lane width is narrower than normal. Drivers are advised to drive slowly and cautiously to avoid potential accident with oncoming traffic. If there are additional signs in closeby vicinity, drivers must obey to those signs as well. 2-30 Warning sign “Width Restriction” – The sign indicates that the lane width ahead is narrower than normal, with maximum width displayed in “meter” on the sign. Vehicles, which do not exceed the maximum width indicated, can pass through with caution and use slow speed. If there are additional signs in the close vicinity, drivers must obey to those signs as well. 2-31 Warning sign “Height Restriction” – The sign indicates that the way head has low top, with maximum height indicated in “meter” on the sign. Vehicles, which do not exceed the maximum height displayed, can pass through with caution and slow speed. 2-32 Warning sign “Moveable Bridge Ahead” – A moveable bridge, which can be moved to allow passage way for a boat or a ship, is coming up ahead. Drivers of vehicles are advised to drive slowly and carefully stop the vehicle, when an officer opens the bascule bridge, in order to avoid any possible accident with other vehicles in front and behind. 2-33 Warning sign “Slippery When Wet” – The road is slippery when wet. Drivers of vehicles are required to drive slowly and carefully. Do not use brake immediately. Stopping, slowing down the vehicle and making a turn should be done with extreme care. 2-34 Warning sign “Unequal Road Surface” – The surface of the way ahead changes level immeidately, e.g. at a bridge neck, way over a culvert, or speed bump. Drive slowly and carefully.

2-36 Warning sign “Uneven Road Surface” – The surface of the way ahead is bumpy or has many ridges. Drive slowly and carefully 2-37 Warning sign “Loose Gravel” – The surface of the way ahead is loose and might bounce off, if a vehicle runs pass with a high speed. Drive slowly and be careful of accident that might be caused by the loose surface. 2-38 Warning sign “Steep Climb” – The way ahead is a steep climb up hill or moutain, which might obstruct the view of the oncoming traffic. Drive slowly, try to keep to the left of way and be careful of the oncoming traffic. 2-39 Warning sign “Steep Descent” – The way ahead is a steep way downhill. Drivers of vehicles are advised to drive slowly, use low gear, and keep to the left of way. The drivers should not release the gear or stop the engine, while the vehicle is going downhill. 2-40 Warning sign “Divided Highway” – The way ahead is a divided highway with two directions traffic are separated by a central barrier or strip of land. Drivers of vehicles are advised to keep left and be careful. 2-41 Warning sign “Divided Highway Ends” – The way ahead is a single carriage way without central barrier or median. Drivers of vehicles are advised to drive slowly, keep left, and be cautious of the oncoming traffic. 2-42 Warning sign “Two Way Traffic” – The way ahead has two directions traffic. Drivers of vehicles must drive slowly, keep left and be cautious of the oncoming traffic.

2-43 Warning sign “Merge-Left” – The way ahead will be merged from the left. Drivers of vehicles must drive slowly and be careful 2-44 Warning sign “Merge-Right” – The way ahead will be merged from the right. Drivers of vehicles must drive slowly and be careful. 2-45 Warning sign “Pedestrain Crossing” – Pedestrian crossing or community area with people crossing the road on a regular basis, is coming up ahead. Drivers of vehicles must drive slowly and be careful of pedestrians. If there is a pedestrian waiting to cross the road, drivers must wait for the pedestrian to cross first. 2-46 Warning sign “School Crossing” – There is a school in close vicinity, drivers must slow down the vehicles and be cautious of any accident that may happen to the students. If there are students waiting to cross the road, drivers must wait for the students to cross first. If it is during school hours, loud noises are prohibited near the school area. 2-47 Warning sign “Beware of Cattle” – There might be cattle crossing the road. Drivers must drive slowly and carefully. 2-48 Warning sign “Double Arrow” – There is traffic island or central barrier. Vehicles can pass by both left and right side of the sign. 2-49 Warning sign “One Direction Arrow” – The way is diverted in the direction of the arrow. Drivers must drive slowly and carefully.
