REGULATORY SIGN

(Standard signs accepted by Department of Highway, Ministry of Transport)


Regulatory signs can be divided into 2 categories :

  1. Regulatory sign, which displays symbols

  2. Regulatory sign, which displays message and/or symbol

Regulatory traffic sign "Stop" Drivers of vehicles must stop and proceed with caution when the way ahead is clear. Regulatory traffic sign "Give Way" Drivers of vehicles must drive cautiously and give way to other vehicles on the main way and pedestrian, before carefully proceed when the way is clear and the vehicle will not obstruct a junction. Regulatory traffic sign “Give Way to Oncoming Traffic”  Drivers of vehicles must stop at the sign to allow the oncoming traffic to pass first. If there is a vehicle in the front, driver must wait their turn, until all oncoming traffic has passed, then proceed with caution. Regulatory traffic sign “No Overtaking”  Drivers of vehicle are not allowed to overtake any vehicle in then front in the designated area from the sign. Regulatory traffic sign “Straight Prohibited”  All vehicles are not allowed to go through the direction with the sign. Regulatory traffic sign “No Right U-turn”  Making a u-turn to the right is not allowed in the signage area.

Regulatory traffic sign “Closed to Bi- or Tri- Cycles”  Bicycles, Tricycles, Motorcycles and Tuk Tuk are prohibited to enter the signage area. Regulatory traffic sign “Closed to Trucks”  Trucks are prohibited to enter the signage area. Regulatory traffic sign “No Honking”  Loud noise or any act to create loud noise is prohibited in the signage area. Regulatory traffic sign “No Parking”  Drivers of vehicles are not allowed to park along the signage area, except for dropping of or picking up persons or items without delay. Regulatory traffic sign “No Stopping”  Drivers of vehicles are not allowed to stop or park their vehicle in the signage area. Regulatory traffic sign “Police Check Point” Drivers of vehicles must stop at this sign for police officer investigation and proceed after receiving permission from the police officer.

Regulatory traffic sign “Maximum Speed Limit”  Drivers of vehicles are prohibited to exceed the speed limit specified on the sign, until they reach the end of the signage area. Regulatory traffic sign “Maximum Weight Limit”  Vehicles, which weigh more than the weight limit specified on the sign, are not allowed to entry the signage area. The weight limit is calculated from weight of the vehicle combines with its carrying load in metric tons. Regulatory traffic sign “Maximum Width Limit”  Vehicles, which its width exceeding the width limit specified on the sign in meter, are not allowed to enter the signage area. Regulatory traffic sign “Maximum Height Limit”  Vehicles, which its height exceeding the width limit specified on the sign in meter, are not allowed to enter the signage area. Regulatory traffic sign “Keep Left”  Drivers of vehicles must drive to the left of the sign. Regulatory traffic sign “Keep Right”  Drivers of vehicles must drive to the right of the sign.

Regulatory traffic sign “Straight Ahead Only” Drivers of vehicles must go straight head in the indicated direction only. Regulatory traffic sign “Left Traffic Only”  Drivers of vehicles must drive to the left only. Regulatory traffic sign “Right Traffic Only”  Drivers of vehicles must drive to the right only. Regulatory traffic sign “Left Turn”  Drivers of vehicles are allowed to make a left turn. Regulatory traffic sign “Right Turn”  Drivers of vehicles are allowed to make a right turn. Regulatory traffic sign “Roundabout”  All drivers of vehicles must follow the traffic flow to the left (clockwise). Vehicles entering a roundabout must give way to all traffic within the roudabout first. Additionally, entering vehicles are not allowed to overtake or crosscut the traffic within the roundabout.
